Supermarket

In 2012, supermarkets will have to attract customers in many new ways. The video shows how one supermarket is using the development of technology to help them attract customers. Their supermarket has a hand held device that scans any item you want to buy. It is an easy method that allows you to shop more effective. This supermarket learns more about the user because they know what they like to buy and what they need to buy. The market also sends coupons to the user to influence them to buy more products. The greatest opportunity or place for a supermarket to influence purchases is at eye level. Eye level products are always seen from a user and are an easy to reach place for them. Supermarkets use many different psychological tricks like sales. A 10 for $10 deal may actually not be such a deal. Research proves that you can save more money buy fewer items then a deal like 10 for $10. These sales tell the mind instantly that you will save money, however, it is not true. Another trick they play is by having bigger carts. Most of the time customers do not need a cart. But everyone likes to take a cart because they do not want to hold a basket or hold the items in their hands. Studies have actually shown if you take a basket or only use your hands, you are more likely to save money and only buy the items you really need. They also change the way a supermarket looks. Supermarkets are not as traditional as they use to be. They have more curves to them and have a less of a maze like feeling. They make the customer feel comfortable. Some also have extras like free sampling or performances. They do anything to have the customer have an experience that they want to experience again. In my opinion, their techniques are ethical only because they are not hurting anyone by doing these techniques. It is still the customers chose to buy more items or not. Supermarkets are not forcing anyone to do anything. Supermarkets are a whole lot better at having consumers buy products more today than the past. New techniques and devices are being used that make the consumer want to come back.

Hey Raul I thought your blog was brilliant your contrast to the CSNBC video about supermarkets was brilliant I thought that the assignment that we had to do , you had covered all that was needed to be covered and you did it in such a brilliant but convert way I had to know your reasoning for its brilliance. I thought that the idea of the 10 for 10 deal was a brilliant way of showing though the bog the deal in which the supermarkets do to lure in profit. I quite didn’t know that until you had brought it up to my attention. I thought the other ideas in your blog were brilliant a word of advice next time send a shout out to my blog with a little love on the comment side.
