Interview with D.Bushey Taxidermy

  1. I think that it is really cool that your brother has his own small business. Often it is a parent that owns their own business. Your brother is young and has taken a very big risk opening his own business. It takes a lot of effort, time, and patients.
Your brother found a profession in something that he likes doing and even though your brother just started this business it seems like it will be very successful. I think that your brother is a prime example of how the economy is keeping people from finding jobs; and there are not many out there. Therefore your brother made his job. I really like the pictures that you put in your power point because it helped explain exactly what it is that your brother does. Your power point is very coordinated and very well set up I like the way it pops out.
We learned in class that the point of a business is to fill the need for something; your brother did exactly that. It is really nice to have a plan and your brother seems like he has it all figured out. I understand that his job is seasonal and tedious and I like his "first come first serve" strategy because it makes everything fair and it pretty much rules out costumer conflict.
The difference between Erin's business owner and mine is that her brother is his own boss and has no employee’s. Even though it would help to have employees it takes a great deal of money to hire new employees. Taking in new workers could break a company and this is why Erin's brother needs to be self-motivated because he has to do all this work alone.
It seems like your brother becomes close with his clients because he gets to listen to their stories that they tell him about how they got the animal that he’s mounting. Making a connection with clients makes them want to come back because they feel as if they have a bond with the owner. It is also good that your brother loves and enjoys everything that he does because he takes his time to make everything right.

  2. Your brother’s small business interview power point was cool. His business seems like the “Vermont” thing to do, in a good way haha. It’s cool that he does what he does and I want a deer head in my room too. I like when you mention that he has to be self-motivated since he is his own boss. It is similar to my father’s business because he is basically his own boss. His motivation is his family but what ever your brother’s self-motivation is, it is very important because it will make his business thrive. I like how you said you’re brother uses word of the mouth. He is right that it is free and it is worth more then advertising in a newspaper. It makes people/customers feel like they are welcome to the business and feel like they can get the best out of it. Unfortunately not everyone can get a job doing what he or she wants. But I agree if you want to be successful, do what you love doing and the money will come to you. His mission statement for serving those who come first is something I agree on and I believe it is great customer service. I also like how he gets to connect with his customers by listening to all their stories about how they obtained the animal. I like how he took the risk to start his own business out of college since he could not seem to find a job. But with a great risk comes a great reward and it seems like your brother is getting that reward. Like discussed in class, business have to take risks in order to make it to the next step. I’m sure your brother will continue to take those risks and continue growing in his business. I enjoyed going through your power point and find his business interesting. I like how hard working he is have two jobs since his business is seasonal. I also believe that he will continue being successful because he enjoys doing what he does and makes money along the way.
