Small Business Interview

  1. Katie, your presentation was really really good. I picked to respond to this one because it was kind of similar to mine. Both of our dads own construction companies. It is really important that your dad said that he enjoys his job because it is always better to do something you love. Your dads business seems really successful and it is because all of his hard work and experience. Experience really pays off in the end. I thought it was interesting that your fathers small business does a lot of service. They are willing to do construction for all parts of the house. That seems to be more appealing to customers because if they need more then one thing done at once they can hire his company instead of hiring two different companies. It is more convenient. Another thing I found interesting was the advice your father gave you. I agree with him and it is important to never stop doing what you love because that is how you become successful. If you hate your job you aren’t going to work to your full potential, but if you love your job you will always give it your all. It is crazy that your dad works two jobs. Running a business is hard enough I could not imagine working a part time job to. I learned from this presentation that businesses are not easy to start. The more experience you have the more successful you will be because you already know everything about your business. I also learned that keeping a business running can be very challenging there is always a risk that it will fail. I think your dad is brave for starting a business while having another job. I’d imagine that it is really time consuming to have two jobs. The relation to the textbook was on page 146 “accepting the risk of starting and running a business.” I think entrepreneurship relates to your father because your dad is a great example of an entrepreneur. A very successful one. He took a risk because his business could of easily failed.
