  1. Overall your presentation was really good. I enjoyed learning about Amanda Roy's Cafe. The slide show was put together really well. Your pictures were relevant to the small business you chose and helped add some color to your presentation. I thought it was interesting that the owner of Jolly Bean Café, Amanda Roy, wanted to be different. She had a unique way of creating and starting her business. Because of this her business has become very successful. Also she is the owner and only employee for Jolly Bean Café. She manages and controls everything at her kiosk. She said that she enjoyed being the only worker because if she was sick she could just call a friend to cover. Another interesting point was she strived to make her customers happy. By making healthy food, keeping a clean café, and by being consistent she is keeping customers very satisfied. It is hard to run a business and at the same time make sure you are pleasing your customers. I learned from this presentation that running a business is not easy what so ever. You have to pick a location that will attract people, sell good food, and keep up with your competition. Owning a café can be difficult because there are so many cafes, and coffee shops that it is hard to win customers over. Especially considering it is only a kiosk makes it even harder to get business. It is interesting that you said expectations for Jolly Bean Café might have been too high when it was being created. It is a good thing that business picked up and she is now successful. A relation to the text is that she is a sole proprietor. She chose to risk taking all of the failure. Luckily her business turned out to be a success. She sounds very smart because she is running her business by herself. She is the only one that works there which leaves her a lot of responsibility. It seems very time consuming. This presentation was inspirational to me because it is hard work to start a small business even if it is just a kiosk and she seems to be successful.

  2. I like the presentation overall I thought it was well put it made me think of all the small coffee shops that I know of from where I from and I understand that I would rather go to the coffee shop that I know about and know what service and product that I’m going to get. That is a real challenge as I was reading your presentation I didn’t really have that as a challenge but I’m sure that is a problem. I thought your presentation was very organized I thought Amanda Roy was very smart and a true risk taker for start such tricky business in a crumbling economy. Reading her and her history was very inspiring being that she was laid off from her original job and for her to take such a risk to go out with the money she had and start a business. Many people would have taken the risk she took. Also I liked that before she started the business she had a job in the industry in college , what most people forget is how to run the business and be creativity to the business they start, and by her having already been in the business she knows what to do and what not to do. She took the prerequisites to make sure her business was a success. That what most people forget that success to most people is that they had already have experience to the company or your just that creative. Her location was brilliant I think because my thought process would have been people in the Registry of Motor Vehicles are always stressful and then some people coop with coffee or sweets or even that you need something to eat after being in the Registry for long periods need something to restart you. Her location couldn’t be any better that’s what most people over thing location is a key part of business and experienced person in the business would understand. I think over all that Amanda Roy is a very good business owner and I hope that her business stays and she does well in it.
