McDonalds started off as a one store burger and french fry shop right outside of Chicago. It quickly transitioned into being one of the biggest names in the world. Growing up all you wanted to eat was McDonalds. As a little kid even if you didn't enjoy the food you wanted to get the toy that came with the happy meal or play in the ball pit. The movie said that Ronald McDonald is the most well known character next to only Santa Claus. To me I find that absolutely insane.
McDonalds serves fifteen million customers a day. They also spend two billion dollars in advertising. After eating McDonalds I always get a feeling of grossness. Then I begin to ask myself why did I eat that? Oh Yeah its fast, its cheap, and it taste good until you are finished it. The video showed some things about McDonalds that I would have never thought they would have. McDonalds has a test facility with a gourmet head chef. They frequently test new things and have recently been trying to change the face of McDonalds. Ever since the new go green and healthy image America has been trying to obtain ironically because of places like McDonalds. They have implemented different products like salads, wraps, yogurt, and kids meals that offer apples instead of fries.
The video brought up the point that many people do not know that McDonalds offers alternative healthy solutions. Kids meals can be replaced with apples and juice. Though if you do not ask for them you get the unhealthy version of fries and soda. My solution to this would be that all kids meals should come with apples and juice and if they want fries they can ask for them.
It doesn't seem that McDonalds is to worried about the obesity epidemic. Jim Skinner CEO says that people do not eat at McDonalds often enough for them to be blamed for obesity. In reality it is a business and in the end a business only cares about making money. As long as people are in a rush and are hungry McDonalds will never fail.
Yo kyle,I liked the opinions you stated in your blog post. I agree with much of the things you said. I agree with what you said on McDonalds just being a business. They are completely aware of what they are doing to society as a whole. They simply put out healthy foods to act like they care but they know their main focus will always be burgers and fries. All they want to do is make money they dont care how they do it. I thought the picture you used was also very clever. It illustrated how the empire is evil!
