McDonalds

McDonald's is the world's largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, serving around 68 million customers daily in 119 countries.  McDonald’s is America’s favorite underdog franchises story going from one single store in a small county to thousands and thousands of stores all over the globe.  Because McDonalds is such a well-known franchise for fast food there are many challenges that they face such as promoting obesity.  With obesity being such a huge issue in America and other countries many people and critics are saying that McDonald’s food is not helping the problem. After getting complaints they added healthier food like fresh salads, apples, snack wraps and low calorie meals to their menu.

The McDonald’s C.E.O’s said that it is not their fault, they say McDonalds should be a treat and not an everyday type of meal. They also say that the people that come into McDonald's need to their own healthy choices and it is not their fault for what they chose to eat. I agree with that fact; everyone in the world knows that the burgers and fries are not good for you, so it is your own fault if you go and eat there multiple times a week; you cannot blame it on the company for the mistake that you made.

McDonald’s goal is to be able to put into the customers wants and needs first so that they have a choice when they come into the restaurant. The customer does not have to buy the supersized Big Mac and fries with a large coke; instead buy a salad with a smoothie and be a lot healthier. Being such a well-known company you are going to receive criticism just because people always want to see improvements and make it seem like there is always something better.

To be a successful business it is up to the person to decide what they are going to do with the criticism. You cannot listen to it or you can use it productively and change what you are doing and use it as advice to make your business better. McDonalds has listened to that and is now one of the biggest fast food chains of all time.

  1. Hey Caitlyn,

I was reading your post, and it seems like we agreed on a lot of stuff. Also, you had some great opinion in your post. We did find some of the same information, but you added in some stuff that I didn't include that I find very interesting. Obesity, as I saw, was brought up in almost if not everyone's post, and they all wrote along the same lines. I know you wrote almost the same thing I did about the customers being able to make the decision on whether or not they want to eat at McDonald's and the company is just plainly providing for the people. I like your last paragraph that you wrote. I think the way you analyzed the way a business can run itself is very true, they can either listen or ignore.
