Capitalism. Question 1.

Living in a Capitalist society comes with many obvious advantages and disadvantages. However, the advantages definitely outweigh the disadvantages. This can be proven because the majority of developed nations such as the United States, England, and Canada have some sort of capitalism in there country. The biggest advantage of capitalism is the four basic rights that people are guaranteed. These rights include: the right to own private property, the right to own a business and keep all of its profits, the right to freedom and competition, and the right of freedom of choice. It is these four basic rights that makes capitalist societies places of opportunity. While there is a higher rate of failure in a capitalist community, there is also the opportunity to be a huge success. This situation makes people more likely to start their own business. By doing so, these business owners are creating jobs for people and helping the economy prosper. This theory is called lending the invisible hand, meaning that when people try to make financial gains for themselves, they are in turn creating financial gains for others. Another big advantage of capitalism is that there is always the chance for the poor to dig their way out of the cellar, so to speak, and rise to the top of the business world. This all due to the opportunity that living in a capitalist country presents.
On the other hand, there are a few short comings for living in a capitalist society. In a capitalistic society the government has little say in the pricing of items and wages (besides controlling minimum wage). The side effect of this is that the business world controls the market instead of the government. This creates a problem because it gives business' the chance to over price products and services. Another disadvantage is that the wealth raised by capitalism is not distributed well. Most business owners are living a much higher quality of life compared to their workers. The hard working class lives in much more humble surroundings. Although the working class does have a chance to make a climb to the top it is not easy to do.
In my opinion there is only one way to fix these capitalistic downfalls. We need to find a system that is far less extreme than communism and that helps share wealth better. In addition, this new system should keep the drive capitalism creates by its opportunity to become wealthy. Although, a theory that combines these two ideas seems like a reach, I believe that in the perfect economy it will be able to become a reality.
